Supports Communities in Schools of Dorchester County

Billy Romanstine, Oakbrook Rotary Oyster Fest Committee Chairman (left), and David Floyd, President of the Summerville Oakbrook Oyster Fest (right), present Jenny Horne, Executive Director for Communities in Schools of Dorchester County, with a $4,800 check to benefit the free after school program at River Oaks Middle School in Summerville.

Over 500 people shagged to the East Coast Party Band, and ate single select oysters provided by the Noisy Oyster along with homemade catfish stew.

With the added sponsorship support of Heritage Trust Federal Credit Union, SCE&G, Lowcountry Case and Millwork, and Wachovia, Tony Pope State Farm Insurance, Tidelands Bank, Lowcountry Door & Hardware, Flooring Services, Inc., AT&T, Trident Construction, The Knight Law Firm, and Giant Cement, the Rotary raised over $15,000 to support Dorchester County Communities in Schools' after school program at River Oaks Middle School, and the John Tupper Memorial Rotary Park at Jessen's Boat Landing on the Ashley River.

The 7th annual Oyster roast will be held on February 7, 2009. Call Jenny Horne at 412-8420 for sponsorship opportunities and to donate silent auction items.
