Wayne Salge's roots are deep in the West from growing up in San Antonio, Texas, and living with his family in Denver, Colorado, for the last 30 years. Wayne began his art training at LaVillita School of Art and continued his education at San Antonio College under renowned Texas artist, Mel Casas. He participates in continuing art education
with workshops for bronze casting and
stone sculpture - one especially
memorable workshop with Cleo Hartwig in
1982. He began as a television art
director in San Antonio, served as an
illustrator and combat artist in Viet nam and as an advertising art director
in Denver.
For the last 26 years Wayne has been both a free lance
graphic designer and a sculptor. Graphic design offers
creative precision in two dimensions while sculpture in
bronze and stone has provided freedom of expression and
exploration with an added dimension. The creative aspects
of both disciplines result in a distinctive style for all
of his art work; a real play between negative and positive
space, angles and curves and rough and smooth surfaces.
