Your Stellar Guide to Shopping

The Summerville Sun

Palmetto Salon is a salon that many fellow business owners and acquaintances in Summerville, use and rave about, so I decided to go and see what all the talk was about. Once there I could see that the owner Donna Nugent, had a good thing going. There were clients smiling while receiving their service and even clients popping in to say, hello or schedule appointments. The salon coordinator Christine is fabulous at greeting the clients and ensuring their appointment is at the best time for both the client and stylist. There are several stylist available to serve you; Sofia Mazell, whom I had the pleasure of receiving services from, Jessica Mapes and Amanda Martin. Each one trained and equipped with extraordinary education to give you the best style and service.

Palmetto Salon has served many pleased clients since January 2005, when Donna decided to open her own salon boutique. While watching Donna work her magic, it was obvious that she loves her job. I am not sure Donna even realizes that she is doing this, but she is dancing and singing a bit along with the music playing in the background. A unique demonstration of the joy she has while working. She has obviously created a place where fun and beauty intertwine.

The boutique is a proud participant of Locks of Love, a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss. Recently a local five-year-old, Hannah Jeffries donated her locks to the cause. If you are interested in donating your hair and have ten inches are more, call Palmetto Salon and with your donation, you will receive the haircut free.

You will find fine hair products available from; J. Beverly Hills, to Schwarkopf Professional Products and ionic massaging hair brushes. A current client, Virginia Lee, says she loves how they have taught her to have the ``I just left the salon look,'' everyday with products the salon themselves uses.

I received services from Sophia. Sophia explained what number she would use for my highlights and that they would frame my face and work best with the shape of my face. I don't believe I have ever had a stylist explain to me what she was about to do in such detail, and that left me feeling relaxed while leaving the future of my hair in her hands.

While she was styling my hair, I mentioned how one side of my hair tends to be so much thicker than the other side, despite the part. She asked me what side I sleep on and if it is continually the same side each night. Low and behold, it is the side I always sleep on that tends to be the thinnest. I now alternate my head direction while sleeping.

My experience at Palmetto Salon was extraordinary. So call soon and discover how Palmetto Salon can provide you with exceptional style and service, and leave you simply beautiful.
