The Fine Arts Department of Dorchester School District Two will hold
a beginning instrumental music camp for rising sixth graders who are
enrolled or who are interested in enrolling in an instrumental music
program in middle school. The eight-day camp will be at Rollings Middle
School of the Arts from August 4th-14th (Monday-Thursday) from 9:00 a.m. to
12:00 p.m.
Larry Barnfield, district fine arts coordinator, explained the
purpose of the camp is to allow students to explore the band and string
instrument programs available in all middle schools. "Students will be
exposed to all instruments during the camp to determine their interests and
talent," said Barnfield. All middle schools offer music programs along
with other fine arts curriculum.
Student can register for the camp by calling the Gifted and Fine Arts
Center at 832-5532. Space is limited and will be first come-first served
basis. The cost of the camp is $40.00.
