William M. Reeves, Jr.
The Dorchester District Two family is deeply saddened by the death of
William M. Reeves, Jr. His life of service to this school district is an
outstanding testimony to his dedication and commitment to the community
that meant so much to him. As a long time member of the District Two
family, Mr. Reeves served as a school and district administrator, as
Superintendent, and, most recently, as an elected member of the Board of
Trustees. In 2007, members of the Board of Trustees honored Bill Reeves
and his extraordinary contributions to this school system by naming a new
elementary school William M. Reeves, Jr. Elementary School. The school
opened its doors in August 2007 and was dedicated in his honor in October
2007.
Superintendent Joe Pye expressed his thoughts on the passing of Mr. Reeves
in the following words, "The death of Bill Reeves is a tremendous loss for
our school system and the entire community. I valued Bill's wise and
common sense approach to issues. All of us will miss his marvelous sense
of humor. His love of this school district will be unmatched and his
contributions never forgotten. We offer our profound sympathies to his
family at this very difficult time."
