Dr. Frank Bruno has twenty years of library experience working in
public and academic library management. He is a family man with a wife and
eight children, four of whom reside in Summerville.
He comes to us from Prince Sultan University in Saudi Arabia where he
worked last year. He has managed two public libraries-Port Arthur Public
Library (TX) and Uintah County Library (Vernal, Utah). Prior to that, Dr.
Bruno worked at Prairie View A&M University (TX), San Diego State
University's Calexico Campus, Central Methodist College and Brigham Young
University. He earned a Masters of Library and Information Science from
the University of Hawaii and a PhD in Education from Ball State University
where he taught high school and college students in the education
department.
For over ten years, Dr. Bruno has been the electronic services editor
for the Multicultural Review, a quarterly journal for teachers, professors,
librarians, administrators, and anyone else interested in learning about
new developments and trends in the field of cultural diversity. Throughout
his tenure, he has written columns in professional journals and local
newspapers.
Dr. Bruno supports library growth and he hopes to gain support from
Dorchester County officials to obtain funding for new branches throughout
Dorchester County and to upgrade services at the existing locations.
If you like to meet Dr. Bruno, join the Friends of the Summerville
Library on Saturday, July 19 from 1-3pm for a special reception. For
