The Flowertown Players Begins New Season with Children's Workshop,
Auditions, and a Musical
The Flowertown Players' Lee A. Barrett Children's Theater will offer
a new session of Creative Arts Workshop for young people in grades 1 to 12
on Wednesdays, beginning July 16 and ending August 13, at the James F. Dean
Community Theater in Summerville, 133 S. Main Street. Classes are
Wednesday evenings from 4:30 to 5:45 PM for grades 1 to 6, and 6:00 to 7:15
PM for grades 7 to 12. The facilitator is Lee A. Barrett. Registration is
½ hour before the first class. The cost for the entire workshop is $50.00
per participant ($10 off for each additional student in the same family).
There are no refunds.
The Flowertown Players will hold auditions for ages 18 and older for
the drama Wit, by Margaret Edson and directed by Charmaine Wozniak, on July
20 and 21 at 7PM at the James F. Dean Community Theater 133 S. Main St. in
downtown Summerville. Auditions are cold reading; no experience or
preparation is necessary. All roles are open to casting without bias in
terms of race, gender, handicap or age, as long as the actor can fulfill
the artistic requirements of the role.
The Flowertown Players of Summerville is proud to present the musical,
Into the Woods, based on the book by James Lapine, music and lyrics by
Stephen Sondheim, and directed by Sean Lakey, at the James F. Dean
Community Theatre. Performances are August 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, and 16
at 8 PM and August 10 and 17 at 2 PM. A Meet-the-Cast Reception will be
held August 1, immediately following the opening night performance.
Tickets are $20; $17 for seniors and students. For reservations in person
or by phone, beginning July 23 for subscribers and July 28 for the public,
the theater Box Office is open 10 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday, and
one hour before performances. Season Subscriptions are still available.
