We have a winner for the Official Summerville Fourth of July Hotdog Contest for the Red, White and Blue on the Green Festival held on Friday, July 4 in Downtown Summerville. The winner was announced at the event on Friday.

The two dozen recipes were received for the contest ranged anywhere from recipes that played on Summerville called "De Ville" and "Mr. Gruber's Sweet Corn Dog" based ingredients found at the Summerville Farmer's Market to recipes with a patriotic flair such as the "Firecracker" and the "Betsy Ross Dog."

But the winning recipe was one that played on all four colors of the festival: Red, White, Blue and Green. Stephen Deal from Ladson came up with "The Patriot for the Person Who Loves His Country" with tomatoes (red), sour cream (white), bleu cheese (blue) and avocado (green).

"He used the whole red, white, blue and green theme, like a few others, but we ultimately thought it was the best combination." said Perry Cuda, owner of P-Dogs restaurant.

The winning hotdog will be featured on the P-Dogs menu. P-Dogs is located at 119 West Doty Avenue.
