Short Central hosts the DREAMfest Art Walk. Local artists exhibit their work for patrons to peruse and purchase while live music is performed on the street. Restaurants and shops stay open late for an added benefit.

Take advantage of some summertime fun with a free community concert featuring Bobby Alvarez on Thursday, Aug. 21 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Hutchinson Square. Admission is free. Bring a beach blanket or a lawn chair and enjoy! Refreshments will be provided by First Citizens Bank.

Bobby Alvarez has been a staple in the music scene in Charleston for over 35 years. Originally from New York, Bobby is a percussionist as well as a vocalist and bass player who brings his unique tenor voice to anything he does. He is known in town these days as being the lead singer for popular party band Plane Jane and as being a lead vocalist for the Charleston Christmas Special at the music hall. Enjoy a night of Beach music, R&B and Motown!

The concert is a part of the DREAMfest series held on Third Thursdays in Downtown Summerville from May to September, 5 to 8 p.m. DREAMfest includes an Art Walk featuring local artists on Short Central and a free community concert in the 2008 concert series on Hutchinson Square. Shops and restaurants will be open until 8 p.m. and civic organizations will be encouraged to have booths around the downtown district.
