Another candidate has tossed his hat in the ring for one of the three At-
Large seats on the Dorchester District Two School Board. Patrick Labbe of
Summerville submitted his completed petition to the
Dorchester County Board of Elections on Mon., June 14th, one day before
the deadline.
While the petition of registered voters requires 250 signatures, Labbe
succeeded in getting 296.
Planks in Labbe's platform include: increased accessibility to computers
in the classroom, an increase in teacher's pay, an expanded school lunch
program, improved educational offerings for disabled children, and
improved use of the Education Lottery for funding.
Labbe has experience in the field of education, having once taught high
school. Now a Registered Nurse, as well as proprietor of a web site
development company, Labbe also served 23 years in the military reserves.
Labbe will now begin actively campaigning for the At-large position, and
including use of his campaign web site www.labbeforschoolboard.tripod.com.
There are three School Board spots open, two of which are currently held by
Bo Blanton and Carolyn Howard. The third seat was held by Bill Reeves, who
recently passed away.
